Lin Shaohua: As the first feeling after reading, I feel that Murakami is not yet finished. As a novel structure and plot design, there are not many new highlights, but overall the technique is more skillful. Or at least there are no creative obstacles in terms of ability and technology. Murakami once said: "It goes without saying that from the beginning to the end, the talents are never exhausted, and the quality of the works does not fall. Lin Shaohua: With Mr. Murakami for 30 years, his book has been translated into forty-three books. He is very familiar. There is no strange feeling, and there is less freshness. This is normal and human nature, but at the same time, feelings have increased accordingly. . Once you have feelings for your work, it is difficult to give up, and you are more concerned about what will be written in the next step. What is the difference between the written things and the previous works? It should be said that curiosity still exists. Therefore, reading or translating will not cause burnout or inertia. As far as the translation of "The Assassination of the Knights" is concerned, don't blame me for being self-satisfied. I feel that my translation pen is still as sharp as ever, and the capture of aesthetic information behind the text is still in every possible way. This is also the charm of the art activity itself, and it is also a kind of literacy for art activities.

Cover News: In the traditional literary evaluation system, such heavy writing that touches the suffering of life is considered to be more valuable than focusing on the feelings of individual life. In the past few decades of writing, Haruki Murakami’s focus has shifted from the loneliness of individuals in the city to the struggle between “eggs” and “high walls”. However, it seems that in the country, the impression left by this change to the public is not profound. Therefore, when the new book came out, there was a lot of generalization: "Murachi Haruki first wrote a big history", how do you think?

Lin Shaohua: The reason is very simple, because the most people look at is "Norwegian Forest." As of the end of December last year, the Shanghai translation version of the Murakami series has a total circulation of more than 10 million copies, of which nearly half is "Norwegian Forest." In fact, the "seeking sheep adventure" written by Murakami in 1981 has already written history. In the "Birds of the Birds" written in 1994, history has developed into a main line. But after all, there are not many people watching. I think that the best book in Murakami's works so far, including the "Assassination of the Knights", is undoubtedly the "Birds of the Birds", which is called the peak of Murakami.

What is translation?

In fact, in the 30 years of the connection with Haruki Murakami, Lin Shaohua said that Haruki Murakami had completed him and delayed him: "The so-called fulfillment of me, needless to say, Murakami made me a little bit in the society." Rhythm and charm are the life of Murakami literature." In the translation of this compromised art, Lin Shaohua probably least wants to compromise, probably the translator's style. Cover News: You have emphasized that other people's translations can be confused with any Japanese writer, but the villagers who translate themselves are unique. Indeed, there are many translators of Haruki Murakami's works, and everyone has different styles, such as Lai Mingzhu, the teacher on the other side. How do you see each other's work?

Lin Shaohua: I don't dare to discuss it with my peers. It is easy to cause misunderstanding or make the other party unhappy. Moreover, Ms. Lai Mingzhu is still my friend. We have had face-to-face communication at least three times. At the meeting, I was so sure to "snap my mouth" from time to time, but the conversation would be quite harmonious. Lin Shaohua: I had exchanges when I met for the first time in early 2003. I said that translating his work has always been very enjoyable. Cover News: What is the biggest compromise when translating works in Murakami?

Lin Shaohua: Translation is like a marriage. It is an art of compromise. It was said by Mr. Yu Guangzhong, who died not long ago. I agree with this statement. A good translation is the combination of the author's work and the translator's translation. This chance will never be high. Further, translation is the product of the compromise between the author's style and the translator's style (or language habit). Lin Shaohua: When I am in Qingdao, I still have to stay in Qingdao most of the time.
