The national standard is only E1, E2
"We are domestic E1, Europe E0." Since wooden furniture such as wooden doors, floors and cabinets, tables and chairs are all wood-based panels and their products, they are all applicable to GB18580-2001 "Formaldehyde Decoration Limits for Wood-based Panels and Their Products".
The national standard divides the wood-based panels and their products into three categories: one, medium-density fiberboard, high-density fiberboard, particleboard, oriented strand board, etc.; second, plywood, decorative veneer veneer, blockboard, etc.; Board (including impregnated paper laminated wood flooring, parquet, bamboo flooring, impregnated paper-finished wood-based panels, etc.).
The first two types of formaldehyde emission are divided into E1 and E2 grades, E1 grade can be used directly indoors, and E2 grades must be finished after treatment to allow indoor use. The two types of formaldehyde limit values ​​and units vary according to the test method. Among them, the first type E1 limit value ≤ 9mg / 100g, E2 ≤ 30mg / 100g. The second type E1 ≤ 1.5mg / L, E2 ≤ 5mg / L. The third category is only E1, which is ≤1.5mg/L.

E0 level is the company's customary non-statutory standard
However, the reporters found relevant information and found that even in Europe, there is no so-called E0 level in official standards. Song Guangsheng, director of the China Interior Decoration Association and the Indoor Environmental Monitoring Committee, said that the so-called E0 level is often a kind of hype, which is the enterprise standard that some manufacturers have set up to improve product quality. Most of them set the formaldehyde emission amount ≤0.5mg/L to E0 level, but there is no legal standard in Europe. The E0-level signboards that some local manufacturers hang out are also their own grades, and there is no formal agency certification.
Not only that, but there are also many cases in which merchants have been convicted of paying for E0-level standards and then failing to meet environmental standards. A cabinet merchant in Nanjing who claimed to use the "E0-class cabinet substrate" was sentenced to pay 15,000 yuan for the consumer because it could not get a valid and valid E0-level sheet inspection report.
National standard formaldehyde classification is not scientific
However, the reason why the public merchants rush to promote the E0 level is inseparable from the environmental protection demand that the national standard lags behind the consumers. Wang Zheng, deputy director of the Institute of Wood Industry of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, said that although GB18580-2001 stipulated the concentration of artificial board release, it did not stipulate the total amount of control in the room, that is, only the control of unit release, but did not use artificial When the amount of the board is controlled to a certain extent, the amount of formaldehyde released will exceed the standard. "Objectively speaking, the current national standard has become the umbrella of formaldehyde 'legal over-standard'. This has led to the loss of many consumers and manufacturers. As for the excessive formaldehyde-based enterprises that are caused by the total amount of use, it is not illegal. From another perspective, the fault is not in the enterprise, but in the formulation of national standards."
Wang Zheng said that in the Japanese standards, F1, F2 and F3 correspond to China's E2, E1 and enterprise-defined E0. F1 grade products are not allowed to be used indoors, F2 grades and F3 grades are allowed to be used indoors, but the total amount of use is strictly controlled; if F4 grade (≤0.3mg/L) is reached, it is not subject to the total amount of use, because This product is very safe.
Relevant standards will be upgraded
With the scandals such as the Anxin poison floor last year, the standard upgrade of formaldehyde-based panels and their products was put on the agenda. In May of this year, the National Standardization Administration Committee disclosed that it is proposed to revise the above-mentioned national standard. In the revised draft, the E2 standard will be deleted. Once the draft is passed, the formaldehyde limited release value of the future building materials of sheet materials is at most ≤1.5mg/L.
In the same month, Tao Yiming, Secretary General of China Timber and Wood Products Circulation Association, also stated at the “2013 China's Wood-based Panel Industry Development Summit Forum†that the “Green Plate Evaluation Standard†was implemented by the Ministry of Commerce and approved by the China National Wood and Wood Products Circulation Association. The standard mainly regulates the definition of green wood-based panels, production raw materials and process requirements, product quality and safety performance requirements, inspection methods, etc., and will be linked to the green standards of foreign wood-based panel industry such as CARB certification in the United States and JAS certification in Japan. The standard will enable the industry to gradually become a green industry based on green standards, providing consumers with real green products.
Strict US CARB and Japanese JAS certification
It is reported that CARB is the English abbreviation of "California Air Resources Committee". Its airborne control measures for reducing toxic substances in formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products are one of the most stringent standards for formaldehyde emission in composite wood products. This standard not only stipulates the limit of formaldehyde, but also requires manufacturers to strictly monitor the production process of the factory according to the quality management system required by regulations, and even has corresponding requirements for importers, traders and retailers. Composite wood products that do not have CARB certification and finished products containing composite wood products will not be able to enter California.
The JAS method is the "Japan Agricultural Standard" formulated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan. All organic products and raw materials exported to Japan must comply with this standard. Only JAS certified products and ingredients can be sold in the Japanese market. Some domestic building materials or furniture manufacturers will promote their environmental protection to F4 star rating, which is the highest level of wood building materials in Japan's current law, and is considered to be the healthiest standard in the world.
