What is knitwear?
Knitted fabric is a fabric formed by the regular movement of the yarn by knitting to form a loop, and the coil and the coil are sleeved together. Therefore, the coil is the smallest basic unit of the knitted fabric. This is also an important symbol for identifying knitted fabrics.
Woven knitwear can be used in a wide variety of materials, including cotton, wool, silk, hemp, chemical fiber, and blended or conjugated yarns thereof.
Classification of knitted fabrics
As far as its weaving method is concerned, it can be divided into two categories: weft knitting and warp knitting.
Weft knitting
The yarn is fed in the weft direction, bent into a loop and woven together. According to whether the yarn feeding is one-way or two-way, weft knitting can be divided into two types. One is that the yarn is fed in one direction and woven into a circle, and the fabric is formed by circular knitting; the other is that the yarn is woven into a circle in the positive and negative directions, and the fabric is formed by flat knitting.
The machines used to produce weft-knitted fabrics mainly include: circular weft knitting machines (single-faced circular weft knitting machines, double-sided circular weft knitting machines, sock machines, flat knitting machines, etc.). Weaving fabrics are commonly found in: underwear (such as undershirts, cotton sweaters, Wool underwear, etc.), sweaters, socks, gloves, etc.
2. Warp knitting
A fabric in which the yarn is fed from the warp direction, bent into a loop and nested together. It is characterized in that each yarn forms only one coil in one course, so each course is formed by a plurality of yarns looped and nested together.
The machines used to produce the warp knitted fabrics mainly include warp knitting machines (single needle bed warp knitting machines, double needle bed warp knitting machines), stitch knitting machines, lace machines, and the like. Common products of warp knitwear are: household and hotel decorative fabrics (such as thick, thin curtain fabrics, bedding (such as mosquito nets, bedspreads, raschel blankets) and some industrial supplies.
