Epson Releases World's First White Water-Based Inkjet Printer

Recently, Epson released the Stylus Pro WT7900, the world's first inkjet printer that can use white water-based inks. Epson will exhibit Stylus Pro WT7900 at the Brussels Label Exhibition held on September 23-26.

The WT7900 is a new member of Epson's latest large-format inkjet Stylus Pro series, developed specifically for the packaging industry. The Stylus Pro WT7900 enables precise color management control and precise printing on a variety of media such as film, paper, and metal.

The Stylus Pro WT7900 uses a 9-color Epson UltraChrome high dynamic range ink that enables a wide range of colors and accurate droplet color output. For the packaging industry, high-density white ink and precise lamination are important. For this reason, Epson developed a white water-based ink specifically for the Stylus Pro WT7900. The Epson SpectroProofer software, which is optionally installed, helps users to automatically and accurately manage and control color.

The Stylus Pro WT7900 uses Epson's micro-piezo TFP nozzles, which can deliver perfectly high-precision spherical ink droplets with a maximum resolution of 2880 dpi. In standard mode, the fastest print speed can reach 40 square meters. For packaging printing equipment, productivity is the most important.
