Academician Wang Zhonglin team developed a new triboelectric nano-generator

Recently, driven by the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Academician Wang Zhonglin's team has developed a new triboelectric nanogenerator that can recover the mechanical energy of freely moving objects.

As a new energy technology with ultra-high output, low cost, long-term stability and environmental friendliness, triboelectric nanogenerators have rapidly become a new research hotspot in the field of energy science. At present, triboelectric nano-generators mainly use two friction working modes: vertical contact and parallel sliding. However, both of these working modes require attaching electrodes on the friction layer and connecting wires, which limits the flexibility and scope of application of the generator. The new triboelectric nano-generator adopts a new power generation mode, which efficiently converts mechanical energy into electrical energy through the sliding of an independent friction layer that does not require an electrode. This basic mode increases the flexibility, convenience, and application of the generator. Efficient and stable power generation under contact sliding is of great significance to the practical application of generators.

Academician Wang Zhonglin is a distinguished chair professor of Georgia Institute of Technology in the United States, a member of the European Academy of Sciences, a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a member of the "Top 1000 Talents Program" of the Central Organization Department. Original research results with important international influence.
