The perfectly designed salt spray test chamber shall ensure that the droplets condensed on the top of the test chamber do not fall on the sample under test. The solution dripped from the sample cannot be recovered into the salt bath and reused for spraying. The test chamber shall be equipped with one or more time controllers for periodic spraying and regular input of compressed air. Make sure that the compressed air sent to one or several nozzles to atomize the salt solution is free of oil and dirt, and keep the pressure from 69kPa to 172kPa (10psi to 25psi).
Note 1: Oil and dirt can be removed through a water washing tower or through suitable washing materials such as asbestos, mica, wool fiber or activated alumina with a length of at least 610 mm.
Conditions of the salt spray test chamber:
Temperature-The temperature of the exposed zone varies with the test method used. See the appendix for the exposure zone temperature recommended by different methods. Record the temperature when the salt spray test box is closed, at least twice a day, at least 7 hours apart each time (except for weekends and holidays, so the salt spray test did not cause the exposure sample, the sample to be replaced, the sample to be taken out Check, and replenish the reservoir solution and interrupt).
Note 2: The appropriate method to record the temperature is to use a device that continuously records the temperature or a temperature meter that can be read from the outside of the device. Recording the temperature when the test box is closed can avoid unreliable low readings caused by the effects of wet bulbs when opening the box.
Amount of spray and salt spray—Place at least two clean salt spray collectors in the exposed area so that they do not collect the solution falling from the test sample, or any other source of water. Place the collector close to the test sample, one near the nozzle and the other away from the nozzle. Make sure that when spraying continuously for a minimum of 16 hours, the solution collected by each collector is between 1.0 and 2.0 mL per hour on the horizontal area of the collector of 80 cm2.
Note 3: A suitable collector can be fully inserted into the graduated cylinder with a catheter, and a glass funnel plugged with a stopper, or a shaped round container. The diameter of the funnel or round container is 100mm, and the area is about 80cm2.
