Green Design and Implementation of Packaging Industry in China

With the development of international trade and packaging industry, it has become the consensus of the people to actively develop commodity packaging that meets the requirements of environmental protection. Green packaging Compared to traditional packaging, the most obvious feature is that the concept of environmental protection is integrated throughout the entire life cycle of the packaging product. The design and materials of the packaging should meet the requirements of environmental protection. The implementation of green packaging includes the formulation of national development plans, implementation of environmental protection legislation, strengthening of environmental protection education, and protection of ecological environments.

Key words: packaging industry; green design; implementation plan In today's world, science and technology are making rapid progress, and economic construction is developing rapidly. Environmental protection has become a hot spot for governments and people around the world. At the same time, with the development of international trade and packaging industry, the environmental problems caused by this have drawn widespread attention from countries around the world. To protect the environment and actively develop commodity packaging that meets the requirements of environmental protection has become the consensus of people. Therefore, China's packaging industry must change its concepts, strengthen its awareness of pollution-free, and adapt to the new competition caused by new standards and new regulations put forward by countries on packaging materials and packaging waste, and vigorously develop green packaging.

First, the connotation of green packaging Green packaging refers to harmless, less polluting, in line with environmental requirements of various types of packaging items, which include the environment and the two aspects of resource regeneration. The green packaging in the sustainable development strategy requires that the design, manufacture, use and disposal of product packaging should all meet the requirements for ecological protection such as low consumption, reduction in quantity, and less pollution.

The most obvious feature of green packaging over conventional packaging is that it incorporates the concept of environmental protection throughout the entire life cycle of the packaging product, from raw material collection, material processing, manufacturing products, product use, waste recycling and regeneration to the end Treatment should not cause harm to the environment and human body. Traditional packaging requires protection, convenience, and promotion. The green packaging also requires an important environmental protection function. The environmental protection function has created a “fetching and moving system” effect in the packaging industry. It requires that the packaging materials must be non-toxic, harmless, renewable, or degradable. The change of materials requires processing technology, processing machinery, and container manufacturing. Changes in packaging, design, decoration, printing, and other aspects have led to changes in the overall concept of the packaging industry and the technological revolution; it requires all aspects of the packaging industry, all processes and all personnel to participate. Under the overall goal of achieving environmentally-friendly green packaging, the entire industry must work together to strengthen cooperation and complete its own tasks. These tasks include the development of pollution-free packaging materials (degradable or renewable), non-polluting processes, and Development of public hazardous packaging products, development of new material testing methods, formulation of corresponding standards, recycling and regeneration of materials, development of composting technology, development of new packaging materials, development of printing and packaging machinery, packaging legislation, and recycling procedures The management, training and education of high-quality green packaging design and management personnel, etc., to complete the above-mentioned related tasks, must be organized, managed and coordinated according to the method of system engineering. Only those experts in the packaging industry, such as packaging design, packaging materials, packaging testing, packaging machinery, packaging technology, packaging management, packaging, printing and decorating, packaging education, etc., will be organized together to integrate green packaging with the work processes they are engaged in. Together, we will be able to complete the huge system engineering transformation of the packaging industry, thus achieving the lofty goal of green packaging to reduce pollution, reduce the use of materials, reduce energy consumption, protect the environment and protect resources. Specifically, it should have the following implications:

(1) Implement Reduce. The green packaging should be the least amount of suitable packaging under the conditions of protection, convenience, sales, and other functions.

(2) The packaging should be easy to reuse (Reuse), or its waste can be easily recycled (Recycle). Through the repeated use or recycling of waste, production of recycled products to achieve the purpose of reuse.

(3) Packed waste can be degraded (Degradable). In order not to form permanent waste, non-recyclable packaging waste must be decomposed, and the purpose of soil improvement should be achieved through composting. Currently, all industrial countries in the world attach great importance to the development of bio- or photo-degradable degradation packaging materials. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Degradable, the 3R and 1D principles recognized by the world today for the development of green packaging.

(4) Packaging materials should be non-toxic and harmless to humans and organisms. The packaging material should preferably not contain toxic elements, halogens, heavy metals, if contained, should be controlled below relevant standards.

(5) In the entire life cycle of packaged products, the environment should not be polluted or cause public hazards. That is, packaging products should not cause harm to the human body or the environment from the collection of raw materials, material processing, manufacturing products, product use, waste recycling, and the entire process of final processing.

Second, the design of green packaging (1) Packaging designers should use green packaging materials and design long-life packaging materials as much as possible, which can greatly reduce the environmental pollution after the packaging is discarded.

(2) Reduction of packaging. In some developed countries, many supermarkets encourage consumers to use nylon shopping bags that can be used multiple times and use less disposable plastic bags. The materials used in packaging design are minimized, unnecessary packaging is eliminated as much as possible, and simple packaging is promoted to save resources.

(3) Single packaging material. The materials used are as simple as possible and do not mix with different materials for recycling.

(4) Detachable packaging design. Packages that require a composite structure should be designed as a detachable structure that facilitates recycling after disassembly.

(5) Pay attention to the reuse of packaging materials. Use packaging that can be recycled, reused, and recycled to increase the life cycle of the package, thereby reducing packaging waste.

(6) Harmless packaging materials.
