Ticona has introduced a new grade of injection grade and film grade cyclo-olefin copolymer (COC).
New injection grade grades TopasTKX-0001 and 5010L-01 can be applied to lenses (heads) and other optical applications, with better flow and transparency than older brands. Among them, TKX-0001 heat distortion temperature (under 0.45MPa) is 127 °C, glass transition temperature is 140 °C, suitable for making printer "f-Q" lens, micro camera lens and light guide plate, the advantage of good mold release ;5010L-01 slightly less heat resistance, but the molding temperature is lower than TKX-0001, high melt flow rate, can process large-scale complex shape products, mainly for large-screen LCD TVs, notebook computers and other display light guide plate and Light diffusion plate.
The new film grade Topas 8007F-400 features a wide range of processing temperatures. Existing standard blown film equipment can directly process the grade without modification, and the film has high transparency and is itself a barrier material, with polypropylene, especially LLDPE film. Good adhesion, can be colored and metallized. Its application areas are mainly cooking bags, fast food packaging, top cover and kink packaging. (Tang Weijia)
