Finally, logistics and allocating transportation are also one of the main factors in using contract packaging. In the survey report, 10% of contract packaging companies believe that a good geographic location is their main advantage.
Contracted packaging companies surveyed are very optimistic about their business. About 60% think their business has risen last year, and 87.5% of companies expect that this year's business will increase. In 2001, 65% of contract packaging companies announced an increase in the number of customers.
Of the contract packaging companies participating in the survey, 92% believe that the company has provided customers with a new packaging style or ability to provide different styles of products last year, and most companies have purchased new equipment (see the following table). Most other contract packaging companies expanded their production capacity last year by buying used equipment or reinstalling equipment.
Contract packaging companies provide new packaging capabilities
Despite this, nearly two-thirds of contract packaging companies will purchase new equipment this year. And although 82% of the contract packaging companies stated that their company had purchased new equipment in 2001, 87% will also invest capital this year.
Finally, the survey report allowed a contract packaging company to grade the equipment purchased, from very basic equipment to new products that are currently popular. 18% of the returned information is displayed as basic or very basic equipment, while more than 37% of respondents believe their company is very modern or has reached a modern level of development.
If the above description of contract packaging companies is very surprising, consider the factors that influence the tight labor market for these companies. A contract packaging company that specializes in producing internal products of the company stated his thoughts. “We prefer full-automated production because highly-productive workers are very difficult to recruit.†This part represents the views of other companies. A frozen food co-packaging company said, "We are looking for more automated equipment to solve the problem of labor shortage."
All of these surveys have drawn an eye-catching new blueprint for external procurement packages. Aged, mid-automated contract packaging companies with many workers will eventually make way for new packaging companies with more modern equipment. In fact, most of these contract packaging companies are consistent with the production lines of their production customers, or more advanced.
