The ink consists of organic pigments, binders, fillers, additives and other substances. Among them, traditional organic pigments contain lead, chromium, mercury, copper and other metal elements, which have certain toxicity and cannot be used for food and medicine packaging. Some of the pigments contain carcinogenic ingredients and should be strictly prohibited. The connection materials contain about 40-50% organics. Solvents, long-term exposure can damage the human skin, high levels of organic solvents in the air, passive inhalation, can cause respiratory diseases, may also cause chronic poisoning.
The so-called "eco-friendly inks" must first meet the standards for heavy metals, followed by the absence of aromatic hydrocarbon solvents, and third, to minimize the production of volatile organic compounds. Since 2000, China's ink production and sales have grown at an average annual rate of more than 20%. The current annual ink production is about 350,000 tons, and the annual sales revenue is about 14 billion yuan. Although the scale of production has taken the lead in the world, some high-end products and special products still rely on imports, and the environmental ink industry is still in its infancy.
However, with the continuous development of a resource-saving and environment-friendly society, the awareness of environmental protection in the entire society has generally risen, and the environmental standards for printing and packaging industries have become increasingly stringent. How to reduce the environmental pollution of ink and improve technological innovation has become a new direction for ink industry development.
At the “National Ink Manufacturers Conference 2007†on November 20th, China’s first ink environmental protection promotion organization “National Green Alliance of Ink Manufacturers†was initiated by more than 80 major ink manufacturers across the country. “National ink manufacturing The establishment of the “Green Alliance for Business†sounded the clarion call for the ink industry to advance toward comprehensive environmental protection, marking the spontaneous and conscious change in the development and manufacturing of environmentally-friendly products by ink companies.
