Based on the criteria of the haccp safety management system, the ISO has developed the iso22000:2005 standard, “Food (Packaging) Safety Management System Requirements for Any Organization in the Food Chainâ€.
This standard is jointly formulated by experts from the food industry, representatives of international specialized agencies and Codex Alimentarius Commission, and agencies jointly established by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Health Organization. The standard can be used as a technical standard to provide guidance to enterprises around the world to establish an effective food safety management system, and to encourage companies around the world to implement haccp in a simpler and more consistent manner, avoiding differences due to different countries or different food products.
Iso22000 cites the five initial steps and seven principles proposed by the Codex Alimentarius Commission. The five initial steps include: establishing a haccp team; product descriptions; expected use; drawing flow charts; The seven principles include: hazard analysis; identification of critical control points; establishment of critical limits; establishment of critical control points; establishment of corrective actions that should be taken when the monitoring system shows that a certain control point is out of control; establishment of verification procedures to confirm the operation of the haccp system Effectiveness; establish a documented system. Iso22000 defines common requirements in food safety management rather than the specific requirements of any type of organization in the food chain.
Iso22000 is a new standard for food safety management systems. It aims to ensure that there are no weak links in the food supply chain. Iso22000 uses the iso9000 standard architecture. In terms of food hazard risk identification, validation, and system management, reference is made to the haccp system and application section of the General Principles of Food Hygiene promulgated by the Codex Committee on Instruments. The scope of use of iso22000 covers the whole process of the food chain, namely, planting, breeding, primary processing, manufacturing, and distribution, and is used by consumers, including catering. In addition, closely related to the food production industry could also adopt this standard to establish food safety management system, such as pesticides, veterinary drugs, food additives, storage and transportation, food equipment,
Food cleaning services, food packaging materials, etc. This standard can be used alone or in combination with other management system standards such as iso9001:2000.
Iso22000 "Food Safety Management System Requirements" is a voluntary international standard. The standard puts forward a unified standard for the global food safety management system. China's food and food packaging manufacturers should take precautions to familiarize themselves with the standard as soon as possible and establish and improve the food safety management system according to standards. Relevant departments should also make corresponding requirements for the manufacturers of imported foods in accordance with this standard.
