Nintendo said in the statement: "We are very happy to have the opportunity to make our entertainment products bring joy to the Chinese players. The outstanding employees of NVIDIA will carry out high-resolution porting of these games. Next year we will release more classic games. And the game will be visually upgraded."
A Nintendo spokesperson said that the cooperation with Nvidia is limited to China and Shield, and does not mean that the company will undergo a greater strategic transformation. The spokesman also said that Nintendo is still committed to bringing the new Switch hybrid host to the Chinese market.
Until now, most of Nintendo's games have failed to legally land in the Chinese market, which has limited the popularity of games such as Super Mario and Dajingang. On the contrary, in mainland China, PCs and mobile games such as Battlegrounds and King Glory are dominant. Last year, China’s game market revenue reached $24.6 billion, higher than the US$24.1 billion.
At present, foreign game publishers still face some obstacles in China.
